Part of what makes silver such an outstanding investment is the multitude of industrial uses of the precious metal. The industrial applications of silver continues to grow and this could have positive impact on the price of silver in the future. An industry making ample use of silver is the solar energy industry. When solar power was considered a new technology it was very expensive and very few people could actually afford it. Gradually the cost of solar power has decreased and led to the technology being more widely adopted by consumers. The photovoltaic cells that make solar energy possible utilize silver because of the high conductivity of silver and its unique reflective power that collects the sunlight. As solar power applications increase so does the demand for silver.

The medicinal benefits of silver and its healing power are well-documented throughout the medical community. The anti-bacterial properties of silver make it useful in situations where there is a risk of infection. Burn ointments contain silver that aid in the healing process. Surgery equipment in hospitals is likely be made of silver. The anti-bacterial properties of silver are also a major reason why silver is used in water purification systems.

Silver is used in many electronics because, as mentioned earlier, silver is highly conductive. If you own a television, computer, cell phone, camera, or clock then you own silver. The integral role that electronics now plays in our everyday lives means that silver is an essential precious metal for the 21st century. As the demand for electronics increases, the demand for silver is likely to increase as well.

Every time you admire yourself in a mirror it is thanks in large part to silver. Most mirrors use a silver coating to create the reflective surface. Silver is what makes you look so good.
