2016 Silver American Eagle Proof 70 Coin

The U.S. Mint unveils the first-ever Silver Eagle with edge lettering! This special-edition Silver Eagle Proof marks the 30th Anniversary of the world's most popular coin.

The Silver American Eagle is the most popular silver coin in the world. First minted in 1986, this year marks 30th Anniversary for the coin. The U.S. Mint is releasing proof versions of the coin with a lettered edge to designate them as anniversary issues. Tom Jurkowsky, director of Corporate Communications of the U.S. Mint said, "The edge lettering required by the Act is a fitting tribute to the 30th Anniversary of the world's most popular silver coin." The bullion version of the coin will have the traditional reeded edges.

The U.S. Gold Bureau offers limited number of 2016 Silver American Eagle Proof 70 coins featuring an acid-free certification label. The acid-free labels ensure that it not deteriorate or erode over the lifetime of the coin and are hand-signed by Ed Moy, former director of the U.S. Mint. These coins will be highly sought after by investors and collectors. Each coin contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
