The First Lady Martha Washington gold coin is part of the First Spouse series that first hit the market in 2007. These coins have had high and low mintages. Each coin in the series is made of .9999 (24 karat) gold and weighs 1/2 troy ounce.

The 2007 $10 Martha Washington First Spouse gold coin was struck at the West Point Mint.

The obverse of the coin features a bust of Martha Washington along with the order of the Presidency and the years of her husband's term. In addition are the inscriptions "MARTHA WASHINGTON," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "LIBERTY," and the year of mintage.

The reverse displays a younger version of Martha sewing a button onto her husband's jacket with the phrase "FIRST LADY OF THE CONTINENTAL ARMY," encircling her. Also are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLUIRBUS UNUM," along with the denomination, weight, and purity.
