The 1 oz. Silver Buffalo Round was minted from 1913-1938. Rounds are defined as coins that have no legal tender and are minted by a private silver refinery. The Buffalo Round contains the traditional front (obverse) and back (reverse) designs of the Buffalo nickel and was designed by James Earle Fraser. Silver Buffalo Rounds are an easy and affordable way to build your portfolio and invest in Silver.

Round Features:

  • 1 Troy oz of .999 fine silver
  • Based on the iconic design of the original Buffalo Nickel
  • Guaranteed by the United States Gold Bureau

Privately minted silver coins are commonly called "silver rounds". They are referred to as "rounds" instead of "coins" because the US Mint reserves the use of the word "coin" for Government Issued circulating currency. The privately minted "rounds" usually have a set weight of 1 troy ounce of silver (31.103 grams of 99.9% silver).

Silver is used extensively in many industrial applications, making silver a practical investment. Many of the industrial uses are related to technology and as our dependency on electronics to function in our everyday lives, the demand for silver should increase. Solar power is a prime example of an expanding industry that uses silver as a main component in production. At first, like many technologies, solar power was very expensive and the adoption rate was very low among consumers. As the financial burden of solar power has decreased, adoption rates have increased, and the demand for silver increased. The photovoltaic cells use silver because of its unique properties that allow it to collect sunlight. Solar power seems to be a major renewable source of energy for our future, making silver a precious metal for the future.

The medical field is another industry that has used the unique qualities of silver to its benefit. Actually, the healing power of silver has been documented throughout the history of civilization. Today, the anti-bacterial properties of silver make it useful in reducing the risk of infection. As a result, surgery equipment in hospitals are made of silver. The precious metal is also used in water purification systems. Burn victims are likely to use an ointment that contains silver that aids in the healing process.

Another attractive characteristic of silver is that it highly conductive, making it a logical choice for the electronics industry. If you don’t think you own silver, think again. Televisions, cellphones, desktops, laptops, and cameras all have silver components. Electronics have become necessity to manage our lives. The ease and convenience electronics provide and our increased dependency on them could result in an increase in silver demand. The lifespan of electronics also becomes shorter with every passing generation and technological advance, meaning silver is needed more often. Silver may be an indispensable precious metal for the 21st century.

Lastly, have you ever used a mirror? The reflective power of silver is what makes a mirror possible and why most mirrors use a silver coating. Think silver the next time you look in the mirror.
